Description: One of the most popular flowers with EGC’s members is the rose. Thus we are excited to welcome Kirsten Ganshaw, the Arnold Arboretum’s rose specialist, to speak to us about the James R. Kelleher Rose Garden.
This garden was established in the l930′s in the fens, just behind the Museum of Fine Arts. Kit has played a large role in the renovation of the garden during the past five years by the Emerald Necklace Conservancy and the Boston Parks Dept. She will share information about its history and the process of selecting the 200+ varieties of roses now in the collection. Kit, who has published articles on caring for roses in Horticulture Magazine, will also give us some hints about choosing and maintaining on of our favorite flowers!
